Civilian doc rant

Okay so I havent been on here blogging as much as I thought I would. The original plan was to write one blog a day from the day we got married. Well that didnt work out as well as I thought because the first few days we were at his mothers house and she doesnt have internet.Looking back, I probably could have just "notepad-ed it" and pasted later into the blog but oh well. So the new plan is to write in my blog more seriously when we get to Hawaii in September!
So I was able to finally get my medical records from my civilian doc so I could get an EFMP screening, which is mandatory for all family members going to Hawaii with their sponsor. OK fine, no problem. Well the lady there says that I will need to be enrolled in EFMP because of my stupid hip issues and that my civilian doc has to fill out the paperwork and fax it back to them. Well my civilian doc was told that we cannot move forward with the moving process until Im enrolled, and the guy is taking FOREVER to fax it back! UGGHHH!!! We need to get orders cut so that we can take care of transportation and all the other fun stuff that goes into PCSing...and my civilian doc is, as Kevin would say, "gumming up the works". To make it worse, this guy is former military so he knows how the process works!
As for Kevin and I, we are doing great! I love being married to him! I know its only been what under 2 weeks since we got married but I am, and am going to continue, enjoying every minute of it! This week he is doing "warrior training" which is cool because Monday and Friday he just goes in at like 7am and is home by like 8am! I love the extra cuddle time ;)

Got brownies baking so I need to get back to those...adios for now!

What a week!

I havent been on here in some time now! Ive been busy with wedding planning and going to Ohio so that took up alot of my time!. I got married on June 12th and despite a few hiccups it was the best day of my life! Everyone we wanted there was there and the day went pretty smooth.  The ceremony was really awesome, Kevin was nervous and so was I so we were holding hands and shaking like leaves haha. But we made it through it and I couldnt have been happier. I really love him and I will spend the rest of my life proving it to him. It did rain on my wedding day, which kind of bummed me out, but its supposed to be a sign of good luck when it rains so thats pretty cool. There were a few disappointments--the lady that was supposed to make our cake did it so terribly that Kevin said we didnt want it and ended up buying a store bought sheet cake. I was really excited that he stood up for me and didnt want to see me disappointed. Another thing is that my 3rd bridesmaid just didnt show up at all. I tried to message her several times with no response. Frickin rude if you ask me.  When it came time for the reception we found out that the keg we ordered (that we had to order from the venue) was never ordered! So the manager tried to cut some deal with Kevin to "make it right" but the deal was crap. We are so blessed to have Kevins uncle and his cousins girlfriend step in and take care of the tab so we didnt have to.  That was amazing of them! We were so pissed because this is the second screw up with that damn venue!! Ugh so if youre in the Columbus OH area, dont book a party with American Legion #614...they suck!! But in the end, Kevin and I had an amazing day and I am so excited to start a lifetime of adventure and love with my very favorite person in the whole world!
Being married to someone in the military, when we got back home I had to get an ID card and do insurance paperwork and all that jazz so that I will be placed on his orders when we move in September. No biggie though, Im familiar with the system and how it works.
The last week has been nothing short of fun, stressfull, and wonderful. I married the love of my life and met some awesome people. My brother walked me down the aisle and I wouldnt have had it any other way. Now to just get all this paperwork done and move to Hawaii without losing most of my sanity. Now that the wedding is over, I will have more time to write in my blog and update on day to day life! Happy Wednesday!

Wedding woes/New nephew/Hawaii is coming fast!

Last night I had trouble sleeping because I had a feeling something was wrong with the reception venue. Sure enough when I called them this morning they told me that we had no reservation! They told me that we were just penciled in and they didnt have a contract for us???.... I was so upset because we are 2 weeks away from our wedding and this was the place we put on our invitations. There was no way we would find another venue in such short notice and I was livid! Kevin got on the phone with his sister, who signed the contract and put the deposit down in JANUARY for this. Well to make a long story short, one of the people that bumped our reservation agreed to have their event Friday night instead and all was well. The venue had our contract but somehow didnt put us in the system and double booked the room we were using. It was so very frustrating and I was so mad that I left the house and drove around for awhile just so I wouldnt blow up at Kevin. Im glad everything worked out, Kevin was very supportive and realizes this is very important to me. We have a meeting with this venue Friday and Im going to have a talk with the manager. This could have been an awful situation.

In more wonderful news, Kevins sister in law gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Nicholas yesterday at 5:43pm! I cant wait to see him when we go to Ohio this weekend! I just love babies and seeing Nicholas is just gonna make me want a baby more :-) Plus Kevins sister Kacey is due to have a boy this July! Kevin was so sweet about telling me Ashley had gone into labor. He came home from running at about 7:30am to tell me that I was going to be an aunt again because Ash had gone to to the hospital to deliver. He has bent over backwards to welcome me into his family! I really love his family they have also been welcoming from day one and I cant wait to make it official June 12th!

Aside from the reception fiasco, today was a good day. I did a little retail therapy (which I never do-yes I admit I hate shopping, especially for clothes) and it was actually nice! It took my mind off of what happened this morning so that was good!

Made chili for dinner and then went to the gym. Kevin almost never goes with me anymore which sucks cuz he is my favorite workout buddy. It upsets me but whatever, Im getting used to it.  Oh well, Ive got to keep my discipline and keep going even if I dont feel like it sometimes. I really want to lose weight and my hip feels much stronger and the pain is not as intense on a day to day basis (birth defect, multiple surgeries, long boring story haha).

So Im realizing Hawaii is creeping up on us faster than we thought!. 4 days after we get married we go to a meeting where Kevin will officially get his orders and a list of things to do as well as paperwork paperwork and more paperwork! Hopefully we can put some sort of an itinerary with the calendar then too! I think Im more excited about going to Hawaii than he is, the other day he told me to stop being so excited and I got really upset. Ive been doing research on military life out there and talking to real wives who live there and arent gonna sugarcoat it for me. I realize that things will probably not go to plan as far as move wise. I also realize that the army makes the rules not us. We just go along with whatever they say. I guess he just doesnt understand that I am aware of the ever changing world of a military family. Im so ready to leave Va and experience a new place, and start a new adventure with him. I am scared of him getting deployed as soon as we get there. I know that its a possibility and Ive dealt with deployment before, but sheesh army let him get inside the door and put his stuff down for a minute ya know? Im definitely planning for worst case scenario (deployment right away) so that way I wont be shocked if it happens, but I will be pleasantly suprised if it doesnt! So until that time happens Im just going to tell him I love him everyday and take advantage of the time we spend together!

On a more sleepy note (haha) Im headed to bed! Good night world!

Power outages and shoe shopping!

So yesterday I get up real early, get Kevin up, eat a nice breakfast, jump into my gym clothes and get down to the gym in time for Saturday morning step class! bonus-Kevin actually goes with me!!! Go me!! We get there and the building is closed!!! Apparently the power had gone off and they didnt know when it would be back on...sheesh I was super pumped too... oh well so we decided to head across the street to Old Navy and check out the mega line they had for the dollar flip flop sale. Line was too ridiculous so we decided to forgo that little adventure haha. So we decide to make use of our time and get some medicine for the cats and get on down to the commissary to do a little grocery shopping. I actually remembered my list this time lol.

I had a date with mom to go shoe shopping for her dress shes wearing to my wedding. This should be an easy task, but my mom doesnt have any toes (long story)so shoe shopping is an adventure in itself.  I think we made headway though and she found these clear "jellies" that she may wear or some white Keds (shes the only one authorized to wear those at my wedding). Also looked for a nice longline firming-your-belly bra. No luck with that but I spotted a cute lingerie outfit for the wedding night complete with straps and thigh highs that would have fit--If I actually owned size C boobs!!! Some people dont own those ya know!!! Gah, And it was on the clearance rack...story of my life *sigh* It was an adventure but I really love spending time with my mom and Im gonna miss her like crazy when we move to Hawaii in September :-(

So we have got 2 weeks and 6 days until the wedding and Im getting beyond excited! Next weekend we are headed  up to Ohio to view our venues and talk to some of our vendors. Should go nice and smooth and Kevin gets to hang out in his garage, which is always a plus. His garage makes him happier than I do at times I swear haha. We get to see his neices and nephew(s) too!(His sister in law is due to give birth to a little baby boy on the 25th so we will either make it for the birth or see him brand new!!) I love babies and Im really excited for them!!

Mia is doing a little better, she has been putting more weight on her foot which is good. I hate to see my little sweetie hurting :-( Kevin was able to give her her pain meds yesterday which is a miracle because that cat doesnt do medication. Heck, she doesnt even let me brush her or trim her nails!! Crazy girl!

Today its supposed to rain and be overcast so I think Im gonna get some housework done and wander down to the gym later and get a nice long workout in. These arms and belly aint gonna slim themselves! Have a great day yall!!

First Post....Ever!

So Im new at this blogging thing so please forgive me if I ramble lol. I've never really kept a journal, and when I did I never knew what to write in it lol. This is my very first blog ever (hence the title) so I will start by giving a little background on myself. Im Jennifer (duh haha) but most folks call me Jen or Jenny. My favorite name is Aunt Jen because my neices and nephew mean the world to me and I love love love being an aunt! I grew up in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. I think the area is okay to visit but I dont want to retire here if you know what I mean... I lived a few years in Appling, Ga and I loved it! I would love to go back someday, I just love the country and everything about it! My then step dad joined the army so we lived in Panama for a couple years too. It was fun and I was pretty stoked to get to have a pool party on my birthday for once... but then we got stationed back in Va and thats where Ive been since 1994. I graduated high school in 1999 and had every intention of going to college, but had to work to pay my bills ( I moved out @ 18) so that was on the back burner. When I was 20 I met this guy and we dated for a couple years til he joined the army and we got married when I was 22. I was in love and naive (sp?) and didnt realize at the time that he only married me for extra money on his paycheck. He deployed 2 times, one for 15 months and one for 12 months, so we never saw each other.... in fact I only saw him 100 days in 3 years! Long story short, he cheated with a girl in his unit and asked for a divorce. It was a really rough time for me and for the first time in my life I was depressed.  The divorce was final in 2005 and he ended up marrying that girl. What a douche.  Fast forward to March 2009. Ive got a good job that Ive had since 2002 and got myself a gym membership cuz I was gonna look out for #1 for once. I wasnt looking for a boyfriend, just wanted to work and work out and focus on my life.  One night while I was at work, I received a text from my ex sis in law (we are still good friends) saying that I have a secret admirer at the gym. I was like "what?" so I told her to get me some info on this guy. She said he was in the army, I said "no, no way dude, Ive been duped by an army guy". She told me to give him a chance and that he was really nice and thought I would like him. That guy was Kevin. Boy was my ex SIL right! Kevin and I had instant chemistry and I found that I really love just being with him. Flash forward to Dec 28th 2009. We are on our way back from Ohio (his hometown) for Christmas weekend, and he starts telling me how much he loves me and he wants to be by my side forever. He asked me to be his wife and I excitedly said "YES!!" We have set a date for June 12th 2010... which is just 22 days away from today! Im so excited and I love him so very much, I really cant wait to be his wife. I never thought I would love this way again after what the ex did to me, but Kevin has given me a reason to love again and for that he is amazing. Sorry for the long sappy story, I love to talk...alot so some of my posts may be long. Kevin pokes fun at me for my talkativeness all the time haha. Bottom line is, Im happy and Im excited to start this new adventure with the love of my life! Hope I didnt bore yall too much!
